El descanso del guerrero

Ayer dia 4 de Marzo por la mañana murio en su casa del lago Geneva en Wisconsin Ernest Gary Gygax. Despues de haber soportado un amago de infarto debido a un error en su medicacion y habersele diagnosticado una aneurisma de aorta abdominal se nos ha ido el hombre, se nos ha ido un mito. Se nos ha ido el mito, el hombre que creo D&D, fundo TSR, hizo divertidos juegos de rol, estrategia, tablero y en general que consiguio hacer nuestra vida un poco mas divertida y llevadera.

En 1973 fundo TSR junto a su colega Don Kaye y un año mas tarde publicaron la primera edicion de D&D que vendio mas de 1000 copias en aquel mismo año, un logro increible para una pequeña empresa si pensamos que por aquel entonces no existian los medios de comunicacion que hay hoy en dia y todo fue con el “boca a boca”. Tan solo cuatro años mas tarde, en 1977, empezo la creacion de la que seria la mejor, mas larga y mas jugada edicion de D&D de la historia: Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. En 1985 las cosas andaban un poquillo torcidas por TSR debido a un cambio de direccion de la compañia, asi que Gary Gigax dejo TSR y fundo Dungeons and Dragons Entertainment. A todo el meollo de la cuestion le siguen apariciones en peliculas, series de television y la publicacion de Dangerous Journeys y Lejendary Adventure del que se dice ha sido su mejor trabajo.

La miríada de trabajos que escribio este hombre es realmente impresionante y estoy completamente seguro de que no volveremos a ver una mente tan creativa en mucho tiempo.
